Discover my journey, my passion for nature photography, and the landscapes of Sweden through my eyes.
Book Photo ExpeditionMy name is Peter Rondaan. My journey began in the spring of 1979 in the flat landscapes of Fryslân, where the wind always seems to have something to tell. I grew up surrounded by open vistas and a light that shaped my vision long before I understood that one day I would become a photographer.
After many years filled with opportunities and memories, my wife and I decided to follow our longing for something new. In 2019, we left the Frisian land behind and settled among the deep forests and quiet lakes of Värmland, a place where nature speaks at its own pace and the horizons feel endless. Here, we are building our life with our children, and here I have found a new rhythm.
Light has always been my guide. I love going out before the world wakes, when the air is clear and the first colors of the day slowly appear. Sunrises and sunsets are my recurring meeting places, moments where time stands still and everything falls into place through the lens of my camera.
And of course, there is the Northern Lights. I always keep a watchful eye on the sky. When the green light begins to move across Värmland’s darkness, I go to my fixed spot. There, I stand in silence and watch nature’s own spectacle dance above me. Every time feels like the first time.
It is here, in the encounter between stillness and grandeur, that my passion comes alive. Nature continues to call me, evening after evening, night after night, and I follow it, camera in hand and heart open to the next moment.
Sincerely,
Peter
